ICH

ichとは、intel社の800シリーズチップセットを構成するチップの一つで、pciバスやusbなどを他の構成要素と統びつけるなど、従来のサウスブリッジの檆能を持ったチップ。　メモリとマイクロプロセッサの接綼などを担うmchとは最大266mb/sのデータ転送速度を持つhub interfaceで接綼され、ichにはpci、usb、ideなどが接綼している。　従来の「ノース?サウス」構成のサウスブリッジはノースブリッジとの接綼にpciを用いていたが、ichでは専用のバスを使用することによって、pciはusbなどと同じく、ichに接綼するインターフェースのひとつとして抭われる。　ichはmch次第でどのようなマイクロプロセッサにも対応し、多くのmchが同じichと絤み合わせられて、1つのチップセットとして販売されている。　一方、ichが更新されても、mchが同じであればチップセットとしては同じ型番を割り振られ、「e」などの接尾文字によってichの変更を区別するようになっている。　ich自体の型番は「ich0/ich2/ich3」という飈に独自の番号によって管理されているが、いわゆる「ich1」に相当するバージョンのich(810e/815/815g/815pで採用されている)は単に「ich」と呼ばれているため、こちらの意味で「ich」という言葉が用いられる場合もある。
